BONSAI ART 188 – November / Dezember 2024

TITELTHEMA
Feld-Ahorn

“The pines are getting fungal diseases again, no wonder after the heat and all the rain throughout the summer. You wrote about the Pestalozzia fungus in issue 180, what are the current remedies available against it? The articles on azaleas also mention fungicides and corresponding wound closure pastes. Some bonsai enthusiasts would certainly appreciate more detailed information.”

The situation regarding approved active ingredients and crop protection products is changing.
in the EU changes from year to year. Currently, “Garten-Pilzfrei Polyram WG” (active ingredient
Metiram) (also available online), copper-based fungicides are also said to be effective against Pestalozzia and others. A proven fungicide for azaleas is “Aliette” or “Alitis”, with the active ingredient aluminum fosetyl (fosetyl), which is effective against root rot and
has a vitalizing effect. Using the search term “Japanese wound paste”, you can find various products on the internet with descriptions and information about their disinfecting effect or their suitability for cuts in the root area.

“I would like to take this opportunity, also on behalf of my husband,
to thank you very much for sending me the book “Bonsai Kreativ Fest II Sinsheim 2022”. You and your team have once again produced an excellent book. Keep up the good work. We are already looking forward to the book about the Kreativ Fest III
from Düsseldorf.”

We are delighted that you like the book and hope that we will be able to live up to your anticipation with the book project for the third Bonsai Kreativ Fest.

Do you also have praise or criticism for us? Please feel free to write to us!

“I recently bought “Der Buchsbaum als Bonsai” by François Jeker from your publishing house. This book is very well written and covers the essential care and design topics in great detail. The information on processing and shaping the deadwood is particularly interesting. The many illustrations are also informative and very useful. Two minor flaws that could be corrected in a new edition:
The picture at the bottom of page 11 does not show the seeds, but only their casings. On page 112, there is no egg clutch of the moth, but a typical collection of droppings of larger moth caterpillars. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your great commitment, the many wonderful publications in your publishing house and the always beautiful “BONSAI ART”! MERCI! Best wishes from Switzerland.”

We would like to thank you very much for the words of praise and the correction tips for the
next edition of the boxwood book. We greatly appreciate constructive suggestions from our attentive readers.
